Crocodile River Cruise
Come and visit a unique tourist destination in Costa Rica just two hours from San José. Jungle Crocodile Safari offers a tour specially designed for adventurers and birdwatchers, but safe for the whole family. The adventure takes place on the Tárcoles River, one of the four rivers that flow into the Nicoya Peninsula, and home to one of the world’s largest crocodile populations in the wild with individuals up to fifteen feet long. In addition to crocodiles, you can see more than fifty different types of birds on the site, including the very rare red macaw and a variety of resident and migrant waterfowl. The iguanas and lizards of Jesus Christ are also very common.
Jungle Crocodile Safari travel time is two hours. Our bilingual tour guide offers expert guidance on crocodiles and other associated wild animals. On the way down the river, the ship is heading along the Estero Guacalillo, a more impressive mangrove ecosystem that presents four different species of mangrove trees. In addition to sightseeing, photographs and videos are allowed.
Tourists receive a bottle of cold drinking water along with a booklet that shows the 56 species of birds commonly seen along the river.
We recommend wearing lightweight cotton clothing, sneakers or sports sandals, and a cap or hat. It is recommended to bring binoculars, cameras and film and sunscreen. The use of inspection repellent is not necessary.
